A SANCTUARY OF FEELINGS

Having been orphaned at a very young age, I began working in the fields with mules; like so many children of the post-war era, I did not attend school. It was during my military service at ‘El Goloso’ in Madrid that I developed an interest in reading and writing, which I have never given up since. I am a lover of poetry and an avid reader of authors such as Rafael de León and his poem ‘Profecía’, which I have recited from memory ever since I first discovered it.

When I married Valentina, I changed careers and, with a mule and a cart, began selling soda water and soft drinks. Now retired, I wander about and tend my vineyards with passion… hence the nickname by which I like to be known: The Poet Farmhand.
